DIY: hearted mittens

I love the mittens my grandma knitted for me last christmas but I was feeling like they were in need a bit of a face lift. I was looking for something fresh and with Valentines Day around the corner I couldn't help but lean towards sweet red hearts. You can feel free to do whatever shape, color, or additions you want to spruce up a pair of plain mittens. Cute animal faces, lace...whatever your heart desires can work on any pair of mittens.

Here is what you will need:
Mittens (mine were knitted)
Felt
HeatnBond (iron on adhesive)
Yarn or Thread
Large eyed needle
Iron

I cut out a few samples of hearts with paper just so I could play with different sizes and shapes.
Now the question remains.
Wider or Thinner?

I went with the wider size and cut out the HeatnBond just smaller than the heart.
I followed the directions on my specific package, attaching them to the felt heart then the mitten via iron (with no steam!)

Finally after cooling, I sewed a cute edge around the heart with yarn. You can choose thread if you prefer a less obvious "sewn" look. The thread will definitely hide better!

Viola!
Hearted Mittens!

Frolicking in your new favorite mittens is optional, but recommended!
